What is a Crag Rat?

Our gracious hosts own & operate this clubhouse as part of their search and rescue mission. These courageous volunteers have taken the nickname Crag Rats as they wind their way through the mountain crags helping those in need. All proceeds from our venue booking go towards supporting Mt. Hood Search and Rescue.

Nestled atop a hill within the East Cascades, Crag Rat Hut has sweeping views of surrounding orchards, vineyards, and other farmlands. Mt. Hood to the South marks the Cascade mountain range. To the East on the other side of Mt. Hood & Portland is the Willamette Valley, known for its wineries & farms. The western mountains quickly transition into prairies of the Columbia Plateau to the East. To the North winds the Columbia River, exposing large basalt columns as it heads towards the nearby Pacific Ocean.
